My subconscious left me some gems this morning after it had time to reflect on yesterday’s Story of Place session in Melbourne“When you give things meaning, things become more meaningful”“Understanding is the path to love, and love is the foundation of life”“To love freely is the path to freedom, and the freedom to live truly”I’m definitely at that ‘those that can't do teach’ place, and those definitely aren’t my words… Don’t tell anyone I said them, I don’t want to lose my manly man identity if any’s leftIt was no surprise that yesterday was an amazing session, though I maybe wasn’t expecting it to be so fun and funny. It had that vibe where you get to do what you love with friends who also love it, which is not always the case when you are doing the work with clients who are new or just starting to learn itIt definitely has given me a new lens through which to see community engagement work. As in… why can't all our sessions with communities, businesses, and landowners be fun and an adventure just like that after a session or two of education?I need to work on a few core explanations around nested systems though, it’s a really important base for the work from a design perspective once you get past the basic idea of them.If you use living system frameworks chartering from an incomplete image of a whole, you will not get to the greatest potential of the system, and it can lead to further silos and reductionism, so a little homework for me is neededI started off ok explaining my thoughts on it last night, going from the individual nested in community, and then the community in the bioregion, but at that point, all the squirrels in my head must have decided it was a sunny enough day to abandon me to go play with their nuts in the park, leaving me taking everyone on a journey to Uranus on a mission for Oreo’s or something… I think I confused more than clarifiedAn overall excellent start to activating places across the Regen Places Network, and more to come, including the documentary that will capture all this work one way or another https://lnkd.in/gQswnF7h#regenration #regenerativedesign #regenerativedevelopment #regenerativebusiness #regenerativeculture
